Description

Last call! At the end of the night, a clean-cut hunk and a rebellious bartender act on their unlikely chemistry in this frisky standalone novel from the author of Eye Candy.

Davis: I’ve had my eye on Grace Buchanan for a while now. Unlike the bubbly blondes I usually date, the feisty, flame-haired bartender both intrigues and bewilders me. Something about Grace—the tattoos? the nose ring?—makes every part of me sit up and beg. There’s only one problem: She hates me. Trading insults and one-liners has become our M.O. But when Grace bets me that I can’t get a date with a non-blonde if my life depends on it, I’m determined to prove her wrong by landing the ultimate non-blonde: her.

Grace: I’m used to regulars hitting on me, and I’ve turned them all down, except for one: Davis Price. I like giving him a hard time, and he’s kind of cute in his suit and tie—if you’re into that kind of thing. Anyway, I don’t care how many blondes he takes home . . . until one of them sidles up to him in my bar. Nuh-uh. But after my little bet with Davis backfires, our first date lands us in the sack. So does the second. And the third. Neither of us wants more than the best sex of our lives. The trouble is, it’s not a question of what I want. It’s what I need. And what I need is Davis.

Review

  • Davis and Grace are hot together!

    By ButtonsMom2003
Arm Candy is the second book in the Real Love series but it can be read as a standalone with no problem. The story is told in first-person POV, alternating between Davis and Grace. Like the first book, I had just a bit of trouble getting into this story and I think it's the first-person POV. It has never been my favorite POV to read and I think I must have to be in the right mood to really enjoy it. After I got into the story I really enjoyed it. Davis frequents the bar where Grace works but she's not his type – or is she? Grace has watched Davis come and go with a flock of different blondes so she makes a bet with him that he won't ask out a woman who isn't blonde. Boy is she surprised when he takes her up on the bet and asks her out! These two really throw sparks off of each other and their chemistry in the sack is off-the-charts hot. Davis has been burned badly by a woman in the past and he is surprised by how close he lets himself get to Grace and the things he reveals to her. Grace is used to being let down by men so there's no way she's going to fall for Davis – until she does. Gradually she and Davis build a relationship but then she gets cold feet and things go all wrong. I really enjoyed the witty banter between these two. Davis seems almost too good to be true and I hate the Grace can't seem to let herself completely trust him. This was an entertaining and mostly lighthearted story and I did end up enjoying it a lot. If first-person POV is your cup of tea you should really like this one. A review copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley but this did not influence my opinion or rating of the book. ***Reviewed for Xtreme-Delusions dot com***
  • Button Up Suit Meets Sassy Bartender

    By Agent$$$$
Davis likes control and not taking chances. As a stock analyst, he has to take a few chances, but never life altering ones. He works 8-5, never over. He wears a suit and tie to work at home because he feels that people can "sense" his professionalism, therefore placing their trust in him. Was he always this way? No. After being a jilted groom, he stopped taking chances. He even dated the same type of women--blonde, tiny, and not too bright. Until Gracie Lou... Grace is a sassy bartender who enjoys life. She never gets too serious about life or love as her parents bitter divorce soured her on the idea of "happily ever after". Grace has a law degree and parents who are successful lawyers, but that doesn't make her happy. So she lives her life as a bartender, happy. Until she meets Davis... Davis is a regular at the bar where she works. She enjoys sparing with him, but doesn't understand why he's so focused on blondes. One evening, Grace challenges Davis to ask someone out who's not a blonde. Davis turns it around on her and asks her out. Shocked, she agrees. Davis even offers her a "package"--a certain amount of dates and things they can do on said dates. But when the allotted time is up, they walk away. They begin as friends, but it quickly turns into more with neither one knowing if they can walk away.... Davis is absolutely swoon-worthy!!! He has the patience of a Saint too. Davis is the kind of guy I dream about whisking me off my feet! He has a super cool grandma that is wickedly smart, kind, and loving. He takes care of his grandma, his clients, his friends, and Gracie Lou. I only wish I had a Davis! He's my new favorite book boyfriend oozing confidence and sexiness! Gracie Lou is feisty, red-headed, and unpredictable. Not exactly what Davis thinks he's looking for, but is. I really enjoyed this novel. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
  • A Great Read

    By Eileen A-W
I totally enjoyed reading Arm Candy by Jessica Lemmon, the second book in her new series, Real Love. This story features Davis Price and Grace Buchanan who we met in Eye Candy, the first book of the series. Davis was jilted at the altar by a red-head and has since become a serial dater, dating only blondes. He loves his routine, has a good heart, and is a great friend. Grace is a beautiful red-head bartender at McGeevey’s Pub, where Davis hangs out and flirts with her. Grace has shied away from marriage after witnessing the divorce of her lawyer parents. Despite it all, Grace and Davis have a strong chemistry and need to work through their fears toward marriage and commitment. I really loved reading this book and had trouble putting this book down. Ms. Lemmon wove a wonderful story, with lots of humor, charm and smexy. She drew me in and did not let go until I turned the last page. I highly recommend this book to other readers and I am looking forward to the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

4 1/2 STARS! Delectably tantalizing! She's a feisty give-as-good-as-she-gets bartender, he's an uptight Wallstreet type of guy who goes through women like water. Together, they're pretty amazing! I enjoyed the first book in the series, but Davis and Gracie ... they're pretty special and made me love book two even more than book one! Can't wait to see what Jessica Lemmon has in store for us with the next one! Davis Price spends a lot of time at his favorite hangout, McGreevy's Pub, and one of the reasons is how much fun he has flirting and being shot down over and over by the bartender. She's a smokin' hot red-head, but he's only into blondes these days. Grace Buchanon pegged Davis as a player the first time she saw him take one of his petite blondes home from the bar. He might flirt with her, but it's all innocent fun. He's not interested in her. She's not petite, she's not blonde, and she won't sit meekly and bat her eyelashes like his flavor of the night always does! When a bet turns upside down, Davis and Grace actually agree to go out with each other ... one date, and hot night of sex turns into another ... and another ... and another!
  • Witty and fun

    By Becky Baldridge
Arm Candy surprised me. When I sat down to read, I expected humor and I got that. What I didn't expect was the sweet story that unfolded in this romance. Davis and Grace each have their own issues about relationships and the one thing they agree on is that neither of them want one - until they do. The story has a good, steady pace and while their is some angst, the levity throughout lightens things up. The characters are interesting and so well developed, even the secondary characters were likable and made me want to know more about them. Davis and Grace have great chemistry and are so good together and their banter was witty and fun. I found myself at least chuckling and even laughing out right, but I have to say that my favorite part of the dialogue was Davis' speech at the end. When I have big, happy tears rolling, the author has certainly done her job. This is my first read by Jessica Lemmon, but it certainly won't be my last. She's woven a romantic tale that made me laugh, cry, and even had me fuming at a couple of characters. Arm Candy is emotional, funny, sweet, and oh so sexy. It's one that I can easily recommend to anyone who enjoys the genre.
  • Fantastic

Arm Candy is a fun sexy read that I truly adored. I loved these characters and all the snarky banter that goes on between them. Davis Price definitely has a type and the feisty barb throwing bartender at his favorite pub sure isn't it. So why does she intrigue him so much?? When Grace points out to him he only seems to date blonds and dares him to ask out the next non=blonde he sees, he quickly turns the tables on her and asks Grace out. That's when the fun really begins! Don't miss this one, it's a must read.
  • I just adore Davis!

    By tsmb02(Sue G.)
We met Davis Price in Eye Candy. He is Vince's best friend. Davis shows up at almost every day at McGreevy's Pub in a suit, drinks his Samuel Adams, while watching the news on TV. He spends most of his time flirting and dating any prim and proper blonde he can find. Davis also enjoys his fun and flirty banter with the bartender, Grace Buchanan. Problem is Grace is a redhead so she knows that Davis really isn't into her...too bad...because she is really into him. Grace is not Davis' usual type. Grace is loud and opinionated with a few tattoos peeking out from places but for some reason he is just drawn to her. Too bad he has sworn off redheads since the number Hannah did on him. After a fun round of bantering and a spoken bet, Davis has an actual date with Grace. Surprising to both of them, they actually really like each other and realize that neither of them is what they thought each other was really like. What starts as a series of only 3 dates, quickly turns into something more. Both Grace and Davis have things from their pasts that make them not want to take that next step in their relationship. It was a tough and emotional road these two had to take to get their happy ending, but it was so worth it. I just adored Davis. He acted like he was so sure of himself all the time, but deep down he had some parts that were not so strong. I really liked Grace too. Based on things from her past, all she really wanted was for someone to love her unconditionally and always be there for her. They both just got each other and together they were finally whole.

I really like when a book surprises me. We learned about Grace and Davis in book 1, Eye Candy. Out of the two couples from both books, my expectation was that I would have liked the other couple more. That wasn't really the case. I do like the couple from book 1, but they were the ones with the push/pull relationship. It's what I would have expected with this couple and I was pleased to see the author switch it up. Davis is a player. He goes from blonde to blonde and nothing serious. Grace is a sassy redheaded bartender that likes to remind Davis he isn't God's gift to women. I really expected these two to fight to the very end based off their personalities. I love that I was wrong. Is it instant love? No. They don't commit right off and they are both cautious but they behaved more like a couple than they would admit. I had fun with this couple and their story. It's a lower angst read with no abuse. I look forward to book 3. ARC provided by NetGalley.
