  • Stop at Book 1 if you Like Tamlin

    The legend of Tam Lin is one where the heroine, through trials and tribulations, rescues her love. Sarah J. Maas captured this in the first novel, “A Court of Thorns and Roses, and then completely erases it in the second installment. Tamlin becomes a villain, completely at odds with the loving, kind character readers saw in the first book, who—just in case anyone forgot—Feyre RISKED HER LIFE TO SAVE DUE TO HER LOVE FOR HIM. Why the author decided this massacre of characterization was necessary is beyond me, but it’s not the first time her books have disappointed me by completely and utterly destroying the characters she’s built. A tragedy of a follow-up book that throws any goodwill I had for the series out the window. Other readers may swoon over the brooding and troubled Rhys, but I miss the time when all I had read was book 1.

    I am totally awed by this series! The epic adventures, sweeping romance & heartfelt friendships make it impossible to put down. I enjoyed Feyre’s journey in the first book, but the shift to the Night Court & the evolution of her relationships with Rhysand & his inner circle made this book soar. I loved it so much I listened to the audiobook first & then went back for a reread. This book & series are magical and not to be missed.
