No Darker Place

You will not want to put this book down. High intensity and suspenseful from page one through the end. This thriller will leave you breathless. It has a great villain filled with pure evilness. Detective Bobbie Gentry is an amazing, damaged character. She merely exists to kill the psychopath who tortured her 8 months ago. The mysterious Nick Shade is perfect in his role as a serial killer hunter. He tries to balance staying in the background, watching over Bobbie without becoming involved, encouraging her not to give up and to reclaim her life and trying to find the villain. The supporting characters are all interesting and play important roles to tell this story. The plot is filled with suspense and action. I was engrossed the entire book. Note: if you haven’t read the prequel – The Blackest Crimson-you really should-it’s terrifying good and explains what Bobbie went through.

The intrigue, suspense, the desire for revenge is so strong in this book that you just can't put it down. Detective Bobbie Gentry has suffered the greatest tragedy of all at the hands of the Storyteller . Will she survive? Along comes Nick Shade, a person with a darkness himself, finds a desire to save Bobbie from her darkness. Can they work together to bring down the Storyteller? Can Bobbie find in relief and eventually be happy again by stopping this cold blooded killer? Come travel this journey with Bobbie and Nick from the dark into the light. A must read ! Just don't plan anything else until you finish it. I received an ARC and have voluntarily reviewed it.

As soon as I started this book, I couldn't put it down. I felt so much for Bobbie and the twist with Nick was epic. Can't wait to read the next book.

4 1/2 STARS! An intense continuation of The Storyteller's reign of terror! If you haven't read the prologue to this series THE BLACKEST CRIMSON, I highly recommend reading that one as well. It was a great kick off that had us already invested in Bobbie Gentry's story when this one started. The characters are well developed and the plot is thick. You will not want to put it down until you get to the end! Detective Bobbie Gentry is alive for one reason ... to bring down the man that took her family from her. She lives and breathes revenge and will not stop until "The Storyteller" is no longer killing innocent people! Nick Shade has a secret past that no one knows about, but it is the reason he has a life mission of bringing as many serial killing monsters to justice as he can. He knows he can help Bobbie Gentry, but as "The Storyteller" closes in, she begins to unravel even more. Will he be able to keep her safe long enough to catch the guy, or is she too determined to bring him down no matter what the cost to herself?

5 Stars's for Debra Webb's "No Darker Place", a true thrill ride from start to finish! This book is a dark,suspenseful, physiological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat and peeking into the dark corners of your room as you are reading it. Once I started this book, I couldn't put it down. A fast paced story that will have you flipping the pages well into the night. Detective Bobbie Gentry has been though hell, her life destroyed at the hands of a serial killer, The Storyteller. Now, the only thing that keeps her putting one foot in front of the other each day is the driving need for revenge. This book has a dark intensity. As the clock ticks, more lives are in danger from this mad man. His single minded determination to have Bobby back, to recapture the one that got away, drives him into a new level of depravity. Bobby decides that the only way to stop him, to end it once and for all, is to give him what he wants, herself. One of them will die and Bobbie is determined it will be him by her hand alone. Nick Shade, a self designated hunter of serial killers has a dark hidden past of his own. He is a shadow, constantly moving and never getting close to anyone. He has been watching Bobbie and now has put The Storyteller at the top of his list. Will he be able to save Bobbie from herself and end The Storyteller's reign of terror? This book will take your breath away and have your heart pumping, and at the end it will leave you ready for more!

No Darker Place picks up several months after The Blackest Crimson left off. Bobbie Gentry has physically recovered from her injuries, but the emotional scars left by the Storyteller have only gotten more pronounced. The only thing she’s living for is the opportunity to exact her revenge. Her mission often overrides her common sense as she challenges the Storyteller to come and finish the job. Her actions have drawn the attention of hunter Nick Shade. Shade hunts serial killers and is after the Storyteller as well. This time his hunt is clouded by his emotions and desire to protect Bobbie from herself. Together these two flawed people will work together to bring down a monster and regain themselves in the process. This is Webb at her creepy, serial killer best. If you like creepy dark twisty novels this is definitely one for you. If you haven’t read The Blackest Crimson start there. The novella sets the stage for Bobbie’s emotional state throughout this novel. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
